May  22 

Mr. James O. Goldsborough,  journalist and foreign affairs commentator will be the keynote speaker at our Annual Meeting/Luncheon, at Bernardo Heights Country Club, 16066 Bernardo Heights Parkway and will discuss “Election Perspectives & Bush’s Foreign Policy Legacy”.  $23, must reserve, Arthur Schiff - 858 487 5240.

May 29  

Dr. Vojin Joksimovich, member, will provide a preview of his third book, “Kosovo Crisis: When U.S. Sponsored Muslim Terrorists Amputate a Sovereign Country’’, in which he will focus on events relating to Kosovo’s unilateral declaration of independence from Serbia that he argues has been orchestrated by the U.S.

June 2008

June   5   Mr. Cal Watson, chapter Past President, will give an overview of the political,
                cultural and economic aspects of recent Egyptian history, drawing on information
                received from lectures during his recent visit there, in his talk entitled, “The Status of
                Life in Egypt Today”.   

 

June 12  Mr. Len Williams, member, in his talk, "Collective Punishment - A Brief Survey",
               will look at some of the historical examples of collective punishment and
              collective guilt, giving the basis for condemning such actions and the fallacy of
              employing collective punishment as an instrument of national policy.

 

June 19  Dr. Al Myers, member, will talk on, “Water Concerns for a Growing Planet”, in
               which he will discuss diminishing aquifers, lakes and rivers due to an increasing world
               population with exponentially increasing demands for water leading to scarcity that is
               causing increasing poverty and may lead to international political crises.

 

June 26  Dr. Dipak Gupta, Distinguished Professor in the Department of Political Science at
                SDSU, will review his latest book, “Understanding Terrorism and Political
                Violence: the life cycle of birth, growth, transformation, and demise”, in which he
                analyses human behavior and the forces shaping violent political movements.

I-15 North, exit Bernardo Center Drive to right/north-east; pass through 3 sets of traffic lights, turn right at fourth set with Washington Mutual Bank on far corner, onto Bernardo Plaza Drive; move to the left towards VONS and park close to  the left side of Vons.

Walk to left of Vons to exit car park, cross street (Hierba Drive) to pink building, seniors’ residence; meeting room is on second floor.

 

FROM NORTH OF RANCHO BERNARDO & ESCONDIDO

I-15 South, exit Rancho Bernardo Road to left/east; go through one set of traffic lights and turn right at the next set, Arco on the corner, onto Bernardo Center Drive; move to the left and turn left, at lights, onto Bernardo Plaza Drive with the Washington Mutual Bank to the left; go towards VONS and park close to the left side of Vons.

Walk to left of Vons to exit car park, cross street (Hierba Drive) to pink building, seniors’ residence; meeting room is on second floor.
